Pulp Mag Editorial Offices IV Sept 2008

Vanguard SF was a magazine that lasted for only one issue and that one was dated June 1958. I believe that it fell victim to distribution problems following the collapse of the biggest distributor in the nation, American News Company. Editor James Blish alluded to that collapse in his editorial and suggested taking out a subscription to avoid distribution hassles. He even offered a lifetime subscription for $25 (Care to bet that you will live longer than we will?)

The magazine must have been edited out of James Blish's apartment because Overlook Terrace is about the most unlikely location for an editorial office in Manhattan. It is in upper Manhattan, just below Ft Tryon Park
