Will everyone who prefers living in a plain unadorned glass box of a building please raise their hands? Hmm. Hardly anyone. And will everyone who prefers living in a building with architectural details please raise their hands? That seems to be just about everyone. So why do they keep putting up unadorned tall glass chicken coops, especially luxury buildings? It could not possibly cost that much more. I think it comes from ideology. The ideology of the International Style, as outlined in Tom Wolfe's From Bauhaus to Our House. The architects are the high priests and we are mere sheep whose opinions don't count. The source of this authority is that fatuous conceit of the leftists "The Party is Always Right" and the similar conceit of the religious who in past times gleefully killed scientists who differed with Aristotle. They feel that their convictions are so obviously The Truth, that there is no need to discuss them or to offer any objective evidence in their support. If people don't support The Truth, then they must be coerced into doing so because they are merely ignorant sheep.
