Mysterious Subway tunnel Dec 2008
My son Adam called my attention to this tunnel leading from the 7th Ave IRT station on 14th St west toward 8th Ave. Where did it come out? I had previously looked but found no terminus at the 8th Ave station on 14 St. I tried to ask at the token booth but the transit workers decided to pay no heed to my presence. Just then I saw a transit worker opening the gate to the tunnel. I rushed to the gate before it could close and lock and walked down the tunnel, taking pictures. I think that they blocked the tunnel off because they needed the space to install the elevator to the L train.
